Meet Dr. Abby Borhan
Abby Borhan, MD is a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician
Dr. Abby Borhan was born and raised in the heartland, growing up in Marion, Iowa. She remains deeply connected to her roots and frequently returns to visit family and experience the beauty of all four seasons. Fall is a favorite—when she can take her children to the park, visit pumpkin farms, and enjoy the crisp, open air that first shaped her love for balance, wellness, and community.
Borhan Precision Medicine emerged over the past few years, inspired by her journey as a mother of three. In a world dominated by ultra-processed foods and sedentary lifestyles, she committed to seeking healthier eating and living habits. Her inspiration further came from Peter Attia, MD's book, Outlive. The philosophy resonated deeply with her own experience in traditional medicine—where care often focuses on managing symptoms rather than addressing the root cause of disease. After years of prescribing medications to patients already hospitalized, she felt called to move upstream: to prevent illness, optimize health, and help patients avoid hospitalization altogether.
Dr. Abby’s functional and precision-based approach centers on uncovering the underlying drivers of symptoms and creating comprehensive, individualized care plans. Her goal is not only to help patients heal from illness, but to optimize long-term health, improve longevity, and expand healthspan—allowing patients to live fuller, more vibrant lives.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Abby enjoys staying active through running, biking, Pilates, and weightlifting. She is an avid reader (Outlive and Amateur Hour are two of her favorites), loves spending time with her husband and three daughters, and enjoys traveling—whether taking her children to Hawaii or visiting family in Amsterdam. A former varsity basketball player, she has a lifelong affinity for basketball and enjoys attending sporting events whenever possible.
Dr. Abby’s Professional Career
Dr. Abby earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Iowa before beginning her medical education at the Creighton University School of Medicine. She completed her final two years of clinical training in Phoenix, Arizona at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix in partnership with the University of Arizona, where she was nominated to serve on the hospital’s Ethics Committee.
Following residency, Dr. Abby joined HonorHealth Thompson Peak Medical Center as a full-time hospitalist. During her tenure, she served two years as Chair of Internal Medicine and was actively involved in the Women’s Physician Leadership Council, Peer Support Team, Peer Review Committee (PPEC), and the Charitable Donations Committee.

Precision Health: The Nazar
Belief in the evil eye, dating back over 5,000 years, spans various cultures including the Mediterranean, Middle East, South Asia, Africa, and Latin America. It stems from envy, malice, or jealousy, believed to bring misfortune, illness, or injury to the person at whom it is directed. The most famous symbol of protection, the “nazar,” is an eye-shaped amulet with blue and white concentric circles, providing physical, spiritual, and emotional protection.
The “nazar” resembles a bulls eye, symbolizing precision. Similarly, Borhan Precision Medicine leaves behind the ‘one size fits all’ approach of traditional healthcare, providing precision care through a consideration of genes, environment, and lifestyle to create unique prevention and treatment plans.
